Lee Chong Wei is unhappy about his image being misused and plans to hold a press conference to clarify the situation!

On February 8, Beijing time, Malaysian legend Lee Chong Wei held a press conference to clarify after discovering his image had been misused by a merchant.

It is reported that the image of Malaysian badminton legend Lee Chong Wei has been exploited and used for promotional purposes by an unscrupulous merchant through a deceptive "plant-and-replace" tactic. The product launched by this merchant is called "Huangjing Deer Antler Tablets." Deeply angered by this, Lee Chong Wei emphasized that he has never endorsed such advertisements and urged the company involved to promptly remove all related promotional materials.

Lee Chong Wei posted on social media, saying:Unscrupulous merchants are becoming increasingly outrageous—using someone else’s image to sell products through deceptive "planting and transplanting" tactics. Everyone, please don’t fall for it!

These past few days, I’ve been receiving links from friends one after another (in the comments), which seriously infringe upon my and my family’s right to privacy and reputation—and have even sparked unnecessary misunderstandings and speculation. My studio colleagues previously tried reaching out in the comment section to warn people to be cautious and asked for the messages to be removed, but unfortunately, they ended up getting blocked!

We hereby solemnly declare that I have had no prior contact or collaboration with this merchant. All of this false information is maliciously fabricated, entirely baseless, and amounts to vulgar hype. We kindly request the online platform to promptly remove all such misleading content along with any infringing images. Failure to do so may result in legal action being pursued.

We’d also like to especially remind everyone that only product endorsements officially authorized and published on my social media channels are legitimate—any others likely constitute copyright infringement. Please stay smart as digital consumers: don’t fall for misleading online claims, stay vigilant, and double-check before trusting anything you see online—this way, you can avoid falling victim to scammers lurking in the digital world!

Every year on the second Tuesday of February—today—is International Internet Safety Day. Let’s use this opportunity to remind everyone not to waste online resources, leveraging each of our individual strengths to collectively clean up the digital environment, safeguard cybersecurity, and work together toward a healthier, more vibrant internet ecosystem for all!

Lee Chong Wei is Malaysia's greatest badminton player in history, having won three Olympic silver medals—no one has come close to matching his achievements. To this day, he still holds numerous records with the Badminton World Federation. Last year, in a survey conducted among fans worldwide, Lee Chong Wei narrowly edged out China’s Lin Dan to be named the greatest badminton player of all time. A household name across Malaysia, Lee Chong Wei has naturally caught the attention of many businesses eager to capitalize on his fame.
