During the recently concluded World Swimming Championships in Singapore, World Aquatics organized a voting process for participating athletes. The voting period ran from July 5 to 28, during which one male and one female athlete were selected from each continent, resulting in a total of 10 committee members chosen across all swimming events.

Wang Shun’s campaign manifesto states: "I hope to give back to the sport that has brought me so much success—and ensure that every athlete’s voice, needs, and well-being are truly heard and valued within World Aquatics. I’m eager to contribute to a brighter future for aquatic sports, paving the way for the next generation to enjoy an even better environment for development than the one I’ve experienced."

As a flagship figure of the Chinese swimming team, 31-year-old Wang Shun has previously won the gold medal in the men’s 200m individual medley at the Tokyo Olympics, as well as the bronze medal in the same event at the Paris Olympics.

On the 13th, Wang Shun told Xinhua News Agency in an interview: "I will continue to work hard, demonstrating the responsibility of Chinese athletes in the new era and contributing my part to the future of aquatic sports."

The Athletes' Committee is primarily responsible for conveying athletes' perspectives and recommendations on competition matters and technical rule proposals, as well as participating in discussions within the Technical Committee. Hong Kong, China athlete Siobhan Haughey was the previous member of the Athletes' Committee and has also joined this year's election campaign for the committee position.
