17-year-old rising star upsets World No. 1 to claim Britain's top player his first Masters title! The Indian Wells tennis final concludes.

On March 17, Beijing time, the ATP and WTA 1000 Indian Wells tournament came to a thrilling conclusion, with two exciting finals producing new champions.

17-year-old Russian prodigy Mila Andreeva staged a stunning 2-1 comeback victory over world No. 1 Sabalenka in the women’s singles final, extending her winning streak to 12 matches and clinching back-to-back titles at the 1000-level event. This triumph marks her third career title, while her impressive performance also propelled her up to No. 6 in the world rankings.

In the men's singles final, the No. 13 seed Draper defeated the No. 12 seed Rune in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, clinching his first-ever ATP 1000 Masters title. As a result, Draper will climb to world No. 7 in the rankings.

Women's Singles Final: Andreeva Stages Comeback to Claim Victory

This season, Mira Andreeva has delivered a stunning performance. She made an impressive debut at the Australian Open by reaching the fourth round, and then continued her winning streak at the WTA 1000 Dubai tournament, where she powered through six straight matches to claim her first-ever 1000-level title. Now in Indian Wells, she’s once again maintaining her red-hot form, advancing all the way to the final.

Facing the formidable Sabalenka, Andreeva got off to a shaky start in the first set, losing 2-6. But she refused to be discouraged, quickly adjusting her strategy. From the second set onward, she played much more aggressively and proactively, countering Sabalenka with her versatile, unpredictable style. Her cleverly varied groundstrokes kept her opponent off-balance, ultimately allowing her to level the match with a 6-4 victory.

In the deciding set, both players engaged in an intense battle of break points. Andreeva took the early lead by holding her serve and maintained a commanding advantage throughout, ultimately sealing the victory 6-3 to complete a stunning comeback and claim the title.

Men's singles final: Draper sweeps Rune to claim his first Masters title

The men's singles final featured two players born in the 2000s: Draper and Rune. The pair previously faced off at the 2024 Cincinnati Masters, where Rune swept Draper 2-0. But in this year's Indian Wells final, Draper was in sensational form.

In the first set, Draper quickly found his rhythm and unleashed his full firepower, breaking serve twice—in the first and third games—to surge ahead with a commanding 4-0 lead. Although Rune fought hard to save break points, Draper remained steady and precise, clinching a comfortable hold in the eighth game and sealing the set 6-2.

In the second set, Rune served first, but he still couldn’t escape his unfavorable position—Dreaper immediately broke his serve, putting Rune down 0-2 early on. Although Rune managed to hold a few of his own service games afterward, he was unable to earn a single break point. In the seventh game, Rune’s serve was broken again, leaving him in a desperate 2-5 deficit. When it came to serving for the match, Dreaper showed no mercy, easily holding his own serve to clinch the second set 6-2. With that decisive victory, Dreaper swept the match 2-0 overall, claiming the championship title.

This victory was especially meaningful for Draper, as it marked his first-ever ATP1000 Masters title—and his third career championship overall. Thanks to this triumph, he climbed from No. 14 to No. 7 in the world rankings, setting a new personal best. Draper also became the first British player to win at Indian Wells, and the fifth British player ever to claim an ATP Masters title.

As the Indian Wells tournament comes to a close, players are already gearing up for their next stop. Elina Andreeva and Cameron Norrie have delivered standout performances, leaving fans eagerly anticipating their upcoming journeys—while other competitors will continue battling for glory in the events ahead. The thrilling saga of tennis is far from over, with new chapters yet to be written.
