Badminton players share the same values—playing is such a fun activity!

For us badminton players, playing badminton actually shapes our core values—what we call the "three perspectives": our views on equipment, technique, and friendship-building. But why these three specifically? Because they’re essential to mastering the sport: using the right gear enhances your game, mastering technique allows you to outsmart your opponents, and, of course, badminton is inherently a two-player activity—no one can play alone. In short, these three perspectives are absolutely indispensable for anyone looking to truly excel in badminton.

Now, let's take a look at these three perspectives on badminton:
One: Equipment Perspective
Some people look down on "gear enthusiasts," who often fall into the category of those who prioritize expensive equipment over solid skills—though this is actually unnecessary. After all, spending habits differ, and the mindset of affluent individuals is something ordinary folks simply can't relate to.
Some people enjoy the thrill of playing the game, while others relish the joy of hitting the ball with different equipment. Then there are those who take pleasure in collecting gear altogether. Everyone has their own unique perspective—there’s no right or wrong way to feel about it. And frankly, people who look down on others usually struggle with some underlying emotional imbalance.

Don’t even suggest that a “supermarket racket” could outplay a “thousand-dollar racket”—it’s simply a matter of skill levels, so there’s no real comparison. A mid-range racket will meet the needs of most players, while high-end rackets truly shine only when your technique has reached an advanced level. Often, switching to a premium racket and suddenly feeling like you’ve become more powerful is mostly a psychological boost. But hey, buying multiple rackets isn’t necessarily a bad idea—after all, if you’ve got the cash, why not indulge?!

When choosing badminton apparel, opt for garments that are quick-drying and highly breathable, as professional-level attire not only feels more comfortable but also enhances your overall experience. These clothes are specifically designed to align perfectly with the dynamic movements of badminton, and wearing authentic badminton gear is a true sign of respect for the sport itself.

Badminton shoes—this is perhaps the most overlooked aspect. Some people play using basketball shoes, while others opt for soccer cleats, and so on. Clearly, these aren’t the right choices. Wearing proper badminton shoes is absolutely essential, as their specialized design provides excellent protection and enhances your ability to move swiftly across the court. When it comes to buying badminton shoes, don’t skimp—you should invest in a higher-quality pair!
2: Philosophy of Technology
This generally comes down to a matter of technical understanding: when understanding is clear, technical skills improve rapidly; but when comprehension remains shallow, progress stalls. Since most players haven’t received formal training, their technical learning often ends up being a "patchwork" approach—focusing mostly on superficial aspects without deep insight, making it difficult to achieve meaningful breakthroughs.

1) When hitting a smash, don’t pursue it blindly, as your ability to execute a powerful smash depends more on the strength of your physical attributes.
2) When executing a drop shot, make sure to brush the side of the ball head to create either a sharp drop or a sliding motion;
3) When performing a flat drive, lower your center of gravity and try to swing sideways using your forehand—it will help generate a faster shot.
4) For net play, don’t panic—focus on precise, delicate movements with subtle, controlled power.

5) To generate power, first keep your body relaxed; then, as you unleash the force, tense up your body instantly—this is how you produce explosive power.
6) Consistency is key—whether it’s executing consecutive smashes, combining smashes with net play, performing seamless flat drives in succession, sealing the net at the frontcourt, or maintaining fluid footwork—all require a smooth, uninterrupted flow of movement.

7) Learn from others' experiences—some people just focus on relentless practice, but often see only modest results. This is an inefficient approach. In fact, there are plenty of well-documented tips and techniques you can directly adopt and apply, helping you avoid unnecessary detours. That’s why it’s important to pay close attention to summary articles on experience and proven strategies shared in our regular updates.
Three: Views on Friendship

Ultimately, badminton is a sport that can’t be played without people—after all, it requires human participation to even get started. That’s why choosing the right playing partners is so important. Your partners can be divided into opponents and teammates. When looking for opponents, pairing up with someone less skilled helps you hone your technique; playing at the same level lets you fully enjoy the fun of the game; and challenging yourself against a stronger player helps you recognize your own areas for improvement.

When looking for teammates, seek partners who can grow together during practice—players who complement each other’s strengths and help fill in each other’s weaknesses. Most importantly, team up with people whose core life values align, so you can truly enjoy the game. Avoid those who disregard on-court chemistry or fail to play seriously—dealing with them is simply frustrating and exhausting.

As badminton players, we should cultivate our own unique understanding of the sport, develop our own core beliefs about badminton, and become players who bring thoughtfulness and conviction to the court.
