“I first got introduced to swimming when I was 8 years old, after Coach Wu Mingze from the city’s swimming team came to our school to scout for talent—and luckily, I was selected.”This serendipitous opportunity kickstarted Hu Qianhui's swimming career.Over the next two years, she received her first introduction to swimming at the school's pool.At the age of 10, she joined the competitive team to begin systematic training, studying under Gong Qian, a senior coach at the Changsha Competition Center.

“From elementary school through junior high, classes were held during the day, followed by two hours of training after school. Each training session typically covered around 4,000 to 5,000 meters, with slightly more intense sessions on weekends.” For six years, she balanced her studies and training seamlessly, never letting one interfere with the other.Hu Qianhui's feelings are:"As a student-athlete, planning your time effectively and striking the perfect balance between training and academics is absolutely crucial." This approach—integrating academics and training into the very fabric of her growth—has allowed her to achieve a golden equilibrium between mastering her studies and advancing her swimming skills. And it’s this unwavering dedication that has become the most powerful testament to her success on the day she claimed victory.

Hu Qianhui's daily schedule is packed to the brim with intense training sessions.

Yet she also fully understands that an athlete’s career rarely follows a smooth, straight path. She shared that she often watches swimming videos of, "envying their incredible achievements," which helps her push through even the toughest moments during her own rigorous training sessions.

If scientific training lays the solid foundation for becoming a champion, then family support provides the warm, nurturing backdrop that makes this journey truly meaningful. Behind every young athlete’s path to success lies the most heartwarming story of their family’s quiet dedication and unwavering presence. On Hu Qianhui’s swimming journey, her mother has been her strongest ally—and even her unique name was carefully chosen by her mom after sifting through countless dictionaries, symbolizing a white, strong bird that embodies all the love, hope, and dreams her mother holds for her.

“Mom single-handedly became a whole team—handling everything from shuttling me around, managing meals, accompanying me through training and providing care, to organizing workouts, offering guidance, and even taking care of all the logistical details.” When Hu Qianhui talks about her mother, her heart is filled with gratitude. It’s this selfless support and unwavering companionship that have given her the courage to pursue her dreams with unyielding determination.

"My goal is to achieve my personal best, qualify for the National Games, and eventually compete in the Olympics," Hu Qianhui said, her eyes shining with unwavering determination as she looked toward the future. For now, she’s already setting her sights on even higher-level competitions and plans to evaluate joining a professional team after the finals. "I believe that as long as I stay true to the belief of 'doing one thing well for a lifetime,' I’ll surely swim toward the shore of my dreams."
