Sinner wins Turin title, becoming Italy's first-ever champion

The final championship match of the 2024 ATP Finals concluded in the early hours of November 18 in Turin, Italy. World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, who had previously won all four of his matches, defeated American player Taylor Fritz, who entered the match with a 3-1 record, by a decisive 2-0 scoreline. This victory marked Sinner's first-ever ATP Finals title, capping off an extraordinary season.

This year's ATP Finals saw seven-time champion Novak Djokovic announce his early withdrawal, leaving Rublev and Dimitrov to grab the last available spots. Among the eight players who qualified, only Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev have previously won the tournament title—while the remaining six have yet to lift the trophy in this prestigious event.

Sinner and Fritz were both in the Nastase Group during the round-robin stage, where Sinner secured a straight-set victory over Fritz, winning 6-4 in both sets. In this match, Sinner continued his red-hot form, delivering a performance that closely mirrored his earlier dominance in the group stage. He broke serve at a crucial moment in the seventh game of the first set, clinching it 6-4. Carrying that momentum into the second set, Sinner seized another break opportunity in the fifth game, ultimately closing out the set 6-4 and sealing the win.

The year-end Finals champion marked Sinner's eighth ATP Tour men's singles title of the season. Thanks to his outstanding performances throughout the year, he also finished the season as the No. 1 player in the world.
