World Aquatics: May Ban Participants of the "Enhanced Games"

The World Swimming Federation (commonly known as World Aquatics) held a meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, on the 3rd and decided to introduce a new regulation. Under this rule, participants in "Enhanced Games" will be banned from all World Aquatics events.

In a statement, World Aquatics said: "This new regulation stipulates that no one within World Aquatics shall support, endorse, or participate in any sporting activities involving high-tech methods, banned substances, or unethical practices. Individuals found engaging in such behavior will be barred from participating in any World Aquatics competitions, events, or other programs."

World Aquatics stated that the subjects of these "similar actions" include athletes, coaches, team officials, administrators, medical support staff, or government representatives, among others.

Husain Al-Musallam, President of World Aquatics, said: "World Aquatics does not welcome competitions that promote the use of performance-enhancing drugs, and athletes involved in such activities can forget about participating in events organized by World Aquatics. This new regulation ensures fairness and integrity in our competitions, safeguards the health and safety of athletes, and protects the reputation of the global swimming community."

In May 2026, an event called the "Enhanced Games" will be held in Las Vegas, USA. This competition allows athletes to use performance-enhancing drugs, with organizers claiming that "without doping controls, sports will actually become safer." Already, several well-known swimmers and coaches have announced their intention to participate in this highly lucrative event.

World Aquatics stated that it will decide on a case-by-case basis whether to disqualify participants. Additionally, World Aquatics encouraged its member associations to adopt similar policies at their respective levels, aiming to harmonize sports standards globally.
