In 2022, you’ll be able to take a high-speed train directly from Beijing to Zhangjiakou for skiing—significantly cutting down the travel time compared to previous methods. The newly approved Winter Olympics high-speed rail project boasts a total investment of 58.4 billion yuan. The route will pass through Haidian District, Changping District, and Yanqing County in Beijing before entering Zhangjiakou City, continuing through Huailai County, Xiahuayuan District, and Xuanhua District, ultimately arriving at Zhangjiakou South Station. Construction is expected to wrap up in 4 years and 6 months, with the entire line stretching 174 kilometers. Zhangjiakou, located in Hebei Province, is home to several world-class ski resorts that are beloved by skiers from both Beijing and Hebei.
1. Wanlong Ski Resort:
This year, Wanlong Ski Resort is drawing significant attention as it marks the first ski season of 2015. Currently, the resort has developed and completed a total of 22 ski runs—ranging from beginner to advanced levels—covering an impressive area of over 900,000 square meters. Each run is equipped with a state-of-the-art snowmaking system. 2. Dolomiti Ski Resort:
Dolemeidi, confirmed to have its first ski run in mid-November, is also a favorite destination for many skiing enthusiasts. 3. Yulong Bay Ski Resort
Once completed, the Yulong Bay Ski Resort project will become the largest and most comprehensive ski-themed tourism destination surrounding Beijing. The Dongshantou Snowboard Park will feature two 1,600-meter-long advanced slopes and one four-person chase-style race track. Designed specifically for snowboarding enthusiasts, the park boasts a full range of amenities, including large and small jumps, a rainbow bridge, a snowboard wall, various uniquely shaped rails, and a U-shaped halfpipe—along with one high-speed four-person cable car.

4. Chongli Changchengling Ski Resort:
Chongli County, home to Changchengling, boasts the best natural skiing conditions in North China. Its snowfall, snow season length, and snow quality rival those of renowned ski destinations like Yabuli in Heilongjiang and Beidahu in Jilin. Yet, unlike many northeastern ski resorts, Chongli offers superior wind speeds and temperature conditions—making it ideal for outdoor activities without the risk of frostbite. Miyun Yunding Ski Resort is located in Chongli County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, nestled within the majestic Dagmung Mountains at the intersection of the Taihang and Yanshan mountain ranges. The resort was developed through a joint investment by Malaysia’s Genting Group and China’s Excellence Group. With an average annual temperature of just 3.3°C and snow cover lasting up to 150 days each year, the area boasts natural advantages that create the perfect setting for winter sports and entertainment. The resort features an extensive ski infrastructure, with plans to develop 87 ski runs totaling approximately 70 kilometers in length, covering a vast ski area of 262 hectares. It can comfortably accommodate up to 19,610 skiers and snowboarders simultaneously.
