[Guide] Duo Le Mei Di 2-Day Skiing Guide: How to Enjoy a Thrilling Ride in Chongli

Dolemeidi had its first two days of skiing, and everyone had a fantastic time—but since we didn’t do any pre-trip research on the ski resort beforehand, we missed out on many of the stunning slopes and ended up wasting valuable skiing time. That’s why we’ve put together a handy 2-day guide to Dolemeidi Ski Resort, so you can avoid these pitfalls and make the most of your visit!

Because of the first run of the day, the service hall was already packed with skiers eager to hit the slopes before 9 a.m. The wait was incredibly long, so skiers planning to ski in the morning are advised to arrive at the resort early and head straight to the queue as soon as possible.

The preparations you need to make first include:

1. Ask the front desk where to exchange the ticket you purchased.

2. After confirming the code for your ski pass, follow the front desk instructions to join the queue at the ticket window.

3. A deposit of 600 yuan per person is required (credit and debit cards accepted).

After receiving the consumption card (the red one) and the checkout card, you can head over to rent ski clothing and equipment.

The ski equipment hall features both a self-owned gear area and a rental gear section. If you don’t bring your own equipment, follow this process:

1. Enter the ski equipment hall, swipe your membership card to rent your own locker, which will be located alongside the ski suits (make sure to keep the key safe!!)

2. Rent lockers (in the ski equipment hall, using your customer card)—located in the skiwear area—as well as snowshoes, skis, goggles, helmets, and ski poles (helmets, goggles, and ski poles are available at a single location).

3. After renting the equipment, you can change into it in the locker room next to your rented storage locker, then securely store your personal clothing and valuables.

Before putting on your gear, you can first head to the restroom, and once you’ve finished changing, there’s no issue—just step out of the equipment hall and take the wooden staircase to reach the ski area.

To ensure a smoother skiing experience, skiers can start with a warm-up, then double-check that their gear is properly worn—and make sure valuables are securely stowed away! (Sadly, there are way too many people who end up losing their phones.)

Ski equipment rental prices:

Dolomite ski suits—available as a set (top and pants) for 40/day, or rented individually at 30/day. For detailed pricing on smaller ski equipment rentals, please see the image below.

I rented just the snowboard, ski poles, and boots from Dolomite Equipment—and it turned out I made the right choice. Even with the shuttle bus picking us up and dropping us off, lugging all the gear back and forth was seriously exhausting. If you’re feeling lazy, you can follow my example: rent smaller items like hats and goggles on-site, while the snowboard and boots are available for rent right there—plus, the prices are pretty much the same either way.

Dolemeidi Ski Resort Slope Guide:

1) Ski Resort Slopes

Dolemeidi boasts a total of 10 ski runs. On the 13th and 14th, the Roma (beginner) and parts of the Milan (intermediate) runs were open. The initial section of the Roma run is accessible via a magic carpet, featuring a gentle slope perfect for first-time skiers and beginner learners. For those with some skiing experience, the top section can be reached by a T-bar lift, offering steeper terrain ideal for an exhilarating yet manageable challenge.

The next day while skiing, the slopes were dotted with snow chunks of varying sizes due to the cold weather overnight, so skiers should watch out for these obstacles. Beginners are advised to ski more slowly and prioritize safety at all times.

2) Transportation within the ski resort:

To the left of the ski area is the gondola lift, while to the right you’ll find the magic carpet and tow rope. The gondola takes you up to the Milan intermediate slope, the tow rope leads to the second half of the Rome beginner slope, and the magic carpet transports skiers all the way to the top of the beginner trail.

(1) Magic Carpet: When riding the magic carpet, make sure to wear your snowboard properly and stand firmly on the carpet to avoid slipping. Staff will not allow you to board if you’re not properly equipped.

(2) Towing: Place the tow rope between your legs, firmly grasp the tow bar with your hands, and move forward while keeping your skis 20–30 cm apart. If you fall during the process, be sure to release the tow rope immediately, remove your snowshoes, quickly get back on your feet, and step off the tow path—this will help you avoid bumping into others.

(3) Cable Car: When riding the cable car, sit comfortably and make sure to hold onto your gear securely. Step off only after the cable car has reached the ski slope.

Ski resort dining:

Since I was with my friends, we bought lots of snacks and instant noodles instead of eating at the restaurant. But I did snap a few pictures of the restaurant’s price list—prices are on the higher side. And since we didn’t actually eat there, I have no idea how tasty it is!

Now, let’s go over the ski resort process:

Exchange your ski pass at the service desk—> Pay a deposit of 600 yuan—> Receive your checkout card and spending card—> Head to the rental lockers—> Use your spending card to pick up your equipment—> Finally, when you leave, hand back both the spending card and checkout card—> The corresponding fees will be deducted, and any unused balance will be refunded directly to the card you used for payment—> Then, depart from the ski resort.

Hotel accommodation:

Because I joined a group activity, the hotel was incredibly affordable. I stayed at Tianyu Hotel—two nights cost only 150 yuan per person for a room shared by two people. The room even had heating, making it super cozy and comfortable!

Round-trip transportation:

Since we all arrived at the ski resort together by bus from Beijing, if any fellow skiers without a car want to join the skiing trip, we recommend forming a group with us—this way, you’ll have each other’s backup and support along the way. (Thanks to QuxueWang for covering our transportation costs—:-D)

Ski resort review:

The staff at Duole provided excellent service—though the preparation for the first run was a bit rushed, and everyone seemed eager, they patiently answered all our questions. As a result, we had a very satisfying two-day skiing experience.

Total expenditure:

Individual: Food + Accommodation + Skiing + Equipment = around 650
