Thousands of young athletes compete! The National Youth Swimming U-Series Championships held in Chengdu

On August 27, the 2025 National Youth Swimming U-Series Competition (Chengdu Station) kicked off at the Chengdu Dong'an Lake Sports Park Swimming and Diving Arena. Over 1,000 young athletes from 105 teams across the country gathered for four days of intense competition.

That morning, the swimming and diving arena buzzed with excitement as young athletes eagerly awaited their turn at the starting blocks. "On your marks!" With the sound of the starter's pistol, the first group of female 50-meter freestyle swimmers shot off like arrows, officially kicking off the competition. The youngsters powered through the water with all their might, while cheers and shouts of encouragement echoed continuously from the stands above.
This event showcased professional-level venue support. The venue is equipped with a fully automated swimming timing system, and real-time display screens present match data, ensuring the competition’s progress is crystal clear. Additionally, the event introduced video arbitration and underwater VR technology, offering referees an immersive underwater perspective to make more precise judgments, effectively eliminating the "blind spots" often inherent in traditional officiating—and providing stronger technological backing for fair play.

"Hosting major international multi-sport events like the Universiade and World Games in the past has equipped us with extensive event-management experience and a robust service system," said Hu Haiyang, head of event operations. He added that this U-Series competition isn’t just a competitive platform for young swimmers to showcase their talents—it also serves as a valuable "warm-up and training exercise" ahead of the upcoming National Swimming Championships. "This event will thoroughly test every aspect, from venue facilities and event organization to logistical support, ensuring we’re fully prepared for the national championships."
This competition will run until August 30, with athletes competing fiercely across multiple events, including freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, and backstroke.
