Breaking one national university games record, Guangdong Province's Universiade swimming competition concludes successfully.

In the Group A competition, South China University of Technology secured first place in the team overall standings with an outstanding performance; South China Normal University claimed top spot in Group B (A) thanks to their commanding lead. Meanwhile, Shenzhen University emerged as the champions in 23 events of Group B (B), earning them the top position in the team overall rankings. Guangdong Provincial College of Foreign Languages and Arts also topped the Group C standings. Notably, the South China Normal University swimming team delivered a stellar performance, clinching both the Group B (A) team title and the Group B (B) team runner-up position. They achieved an impressive record of 26 gold, 20 silver, and 13 bronze medals—more than doubling their gold medal count from the previous event—and broke four meet records in the process, further cementing Hua Shi’s legacy of excellence.

As a co-organizing institution, South China Normal University has contributed significantly to the successful hosting of the Provincial University Games through its professional event management, internationally advanced venue facilities, and highly attentive service support. Notably, the fully automated timing and scoring system, along with the underwater video-assisted refereeing system introduced by the university’s swimming pool, utilize 14 high-definition camera positions to achieve 360-degree motion capture and multi-angle recording of athletes’ underwater movements. This cutting-edge technology provides referees with clear, accurate evidence for making precise judgments, virtually eliminating any room for controversy in officiating decisions. By delivering "tech-driven officiating" that sets a new benchmark for technical judgment in university-level swimming competitions across the province, SCNU has firmly ensured both fairness and professionalism in the event.
This competition was led by a team of 17 nationally recognized referees, whose deep expertise and extensive experience ensured accurate and impartial officiating. Prior to the event, the referee team underwent intensive training and simulated drills to uphold the fairness of the competition. During the tournament, the referees maintained strict adherence to the rules, while the dedicated medical support team and volunteer crew worked tirelessly behind the scenes—collectively creating a safe, well-organized athletic environment. Their flawless performance earned widespread praise from participating teams, earning them the title of the "warm-hearted backbone" supporting the event. Moreover, their commitment perfectly embodied the spirit of sports: "open-mindedness, inclusivity, and a relentless drive to excel."

It is reported that this competition is jointly hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and the Guangdong Provincial Sports Bureau, with Jinan University serving as the organizer and South China Normal University and the Guangdong Provincial Student Sports & Arts Federation providing co-organization support. Moving forward, South China Normal University will continue to leverage its integrated strengths in "teaching, research, training, and competition," aiming to establish the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as a premier hub for sports education. The university is committed to nurturing more outstanding athletes, injecting fresh momentum into the high-quality development of sports at Guangdong’s universities—and striving to build on past successes in future events, further revitalizing the region’s collegiate sports landscape.
