The swimming team discusses their New Year goals: Pan Zhanle emphasizes "focus on doing my best," while Wang Shun vows to give his all at the National Games.

On January 10, Beijing time, China's swimming team—Pan Zhanle, Yu Yiting, Wang Shun, and Fei Liwei—recorded a video together, sharing their New Year goals and discussing their biggest rivals for the upcoming year.

What are your New Year's goals for 2025?

Pan Zhanle: "My goal for 2025 is to stay true to myself and build on my previous achievements, pushing even further."

Wang Shun: "My goal is definitely to give it my all and deliver a fantastic performance at the 2025 National Games."
Yu Yiting: "First of all, it’s the Singapore World Championships—hopefully I can achieve a strong result there. And then there’s our National Games, where I’m hoping to build on my performance from the last edition."
Fei Liwei: "After 25 years, I still hope to keep working hard on improving myself."
Who has been the biggest rival over the past 25 years?
Pan Zhanle: "Popovich took just one or two years to go from swimming the 100-meter freestyle to breaking the world record, while it took me three years. That’s how quickly times are changing—so who knows, maybe a new, formidable competitor will emerge soon. Ultimately, all I need to do is focus on being my best."
Yu Yiting: "In China, there are actually many young talents who are all growing incredibly fast—and that comes with a lot of pressure right now. Internationally, I still hope to approach it as an underdog, ready to challenge the top contenders."
Fei Liwei: "Just focus on doing your best—aim for higher intensity and greater volume as you prepare."
Wang Shun: "There will always be opponents, but the real motivator pushing you forward is always the version of yourself deep inside. It’s about finding ways to overcome your own inner laziness or anxiety—those are the challenges I believe you need to tackle and conquer on your own."
