Youngest ever! China's swimming team roster announced for the Singapore World Championships (with swimming schedule attached)

The 2025 World Swimming Championships will be held in Singapore from July 11 to August 4, 2025. The Chinese swimming team will field 34 athletes competing across 41 events, while the Chinese diving team will send 14 athletes to tackle 13 events. The Chinese artistic swimming team will compete with 13 athletes in 11 events, and the Chinese open-water swimming team will participate with 6 athletes in 7 events. Additionally, both the Chinese women’s and men’s water polo teams will each send 15 athletes to the competition. The full list of participants is as follows:

This is the youngest Chinese swimming team ever to compete at the World Championships—average age 22.6 for the men's team, 20.1 for the women's team, and 40.1 for the coaching staff.

The 31-year-old "King of Individual Medley"Wang Shun will be competing in his eighth World Championships, and it remains to be seen whether he can surpass his previous bronze-medal finish.

The 12-year-old prodigy who grabbed international attention in the swimming world thanks to her outstanding performance at the National Swimming ChampionshipsYu ZidiAlso on the list, the Singapore World Championships will mark "Little Sister's" World Championship debut.

In the relay event, the Chinese team made a breakthrough by defeating the U.S. squad to clinch the gold medal in the men's 4x100m medley relay at the Paris Olympics.This Olympic gold medal-winning lineup of athletesXu JiaYu, Qin HaiYang, Pan ZhanLeBoth are on the list. Butterfly star Chen Jun'er claimed victory at the May championships, achieving a time that ranks second in Chinese history—just 0.07 seconds slower than Li Zhuhao's national record. Whether the Chinese team can outmatch the newly assembled U.S. squad will be revealed on the evening of August 3rd.

Qin Haiyang and Tang QiantingBoth are 100m breaststroke world champions; the Singapore World Championships mark their first appearance since qualifying for the Olympics in the 50m event. It will be exciting to see whether the "Breaststroke King" and "Breaststroke Queen," in addition to their signature 100m events, can also make significant strides in the shorter distances.

In addition, the open-water events will feature a total of 7 gold medals, with the 3-kilometer sprint elimination race making its debut at the World Championships. This event is divided into three distinct stages: In the first stage, competitors are split into two large groups and swim 1,500 meters, with the top 10 from each group advancing to the second stage. In the second stage, the qualified swimmers are again divided into two groups for a 1,000-meter swim, with the top 5 from each group moving on to the third and final stage. The third stage, known as the "ultimate round," sees the remaining 10 athletes compete in a 500-meter race, where their finishing positions determine the ultimate rankings.

Female athleteLiu YaxinShe has excelled in indoor swimming, earning a relay medal at the 2023 Fukuoka World Championships. In her two most recent domestic open-water competitions, she outperformed all rivals, showcasing her exceptional individual talent. The Singapore World Championships mark her debut on the international stage in an open-water event—making her the sole Chinese athlete competing simultaneously in both open-water and indoor pool events this year.
