Pan Zhanle named 2024 Pacific Rim Male Swimmer of the Year

On January 26, Beijing time, Chinese swimmer Pan Zhanle was named the 2024 Male Swimmer of the Year for the Pacific Rim region in the annual awards by the renowned U.S. magazine *Swimming World*. Xu JiaYu also received a nomination.


Swimming World believes that Pan Zhanle is currently the undisputed king of the 100-meter freestyle. He clinched his first-ever world title in this event at the Doha World Championships in February, also helping China’s swimming team break the world record in the relay for the first time. More significantly, he set a new world record during the freestyle competition at the Paris Olympics.

On January 30, the second day of the Lunar New Year, Pan Zhanle updated his social media, sharing a training photo with the message: "Happy New Year! Wishing everyone that your heart’s desires in the Year of the Snake (2025) come true, and may your journey ahead be filled with health and peace. Back to training—let’s power through this new year together!"



On New Year's Day, Pan Zhanle wrote on his social media: "2024 has been an incredible year. For 2025, let’s stay grounded and keep moving forward. Countless people have been cheering me on and supporting me every step of the way, which gives me even more strength to keep pushing ahead. Happy New Year! Wishing everyone good health and happiness in the coming year—let’s all keep striving together!"
