On the 24th, the U-Series competition kicked off in Danzhou! Hainan welcomes this national event for the first time.
From February 24 to 27, the 2025 National Youth Swimming U-Series Competition (Danzhou Station) will kick off at the Hainan Provincial Danzhou City Sports Center Swimming Pool. This marks Hainan's first time hosting this national-level youth swimming event, underscoring a significant step forward in the province's efforts to promote swimming and cultivate future talent. The competition will draw nearly 400 young athletes from 41 teams across the country, providing a premier platform for young swimmers to compete, connect, and grow as the next generation of swimming stars.

Event Highlights: Open Registration, Tiered Qualification, and Finals Qualifying Pathway
This competition features an open-registration system, covering five age groups from U9 to U18 (U9-U10, U11-U12, U13-U14, U15-U16, and U17-U18), with events that combine both short-distance and middle-to-long-distance swimming disciplines. Specifically, the universal events include 50m, 100m, and 200m freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke, as well as the 200m and 400m individual medley. For the U11-U18 groups, an additional 400m, 800m, and 1500m freestyle events have been introduced, providing a comprehensive test of athletes' endurance and technical skills. Moreover, this event also serves as a "level-achieving competition," allowing participants to earn qualifications for the prestigious title of National First-Class Athlete based on their performance. At each regional leg, the top three finishers in each age group’s individual events will directly advance to the national finals, further fueling competitors' passion for excellence.
Using competitions to enhance training: Advancing the development of youth swimming talent pipelines
The National Youth Swimming U-Series Competition is a crucial component in refining China’s talent selection system for swimming. This year’s Danzhou event focuses on short-distance events—core disciplines that align with the current training patterns of young, amateur swimmers—while also identifying endurance-oriented athletes through middle- and long-distance events, providing a platform for competitors to showcase their unique strengths. By hosting this national-level competition, Danzhou City will accelerate upgrades to local swimming facilities and foster the professional development of its coaching teams, ultimately boosting the growth of youth swimming in Hainan Province.
Multi-party Collaboration: Building a High-Quality Event Platform
This event is hosted by the Swimming Administration Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and the Chinese Swimming Association, with support from the Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, TV, and Sports, and organized by the Danzhou Municipal Bureau of Tourism, Culture, Radio, TV, and Sports. The Danzhou Swimming Association will oversee the execution, while the event is co-organized by Five-Star Sports Club (Hainan) Co., Ltd. and Kaisa Cultural & Sports Industry (Danzhou) Co., Ltd. The event preparation process has effectively integrated resources from government agencies, sports associations, and private enterprises, ensuring seamless coordination in competition management, logistical support, and venue operations. The Danzhou Sports Center Swimming Pool, serving as the official competition venue, provides athletes with a high-quality environment for optimal performance.
This event will enhance Danzhou's ability to host high-level competitions, providing valuable experience for attracting even more prestigious national-level events in the future. At the same time, it will inspire local youth to enthusiastically participate in swimming and strengthen Hainan's talent pool for the sport.
