Results from the National Spring Swimming Championships on the 20th: Qin Haiyang and Yu Yiting win the gold medals.

On March 20, the 2025 National Spring Swimming Championships concluded in Qingdao, Shandong, awarding seven gold medals. Shanghai's Qian Haiyang clinched the men's 100-meter breaststroke title, while Zhejiang's Yu Yiting claimed the women's 400-meter individual medley, securing her second gold medal of the event.

In the men's 100m breaststroke final, Qin Haiyang clinched the gold medal with a time of 58.66 seconds, while Sun Jiajun from the Hubei team and Dong Zihao from the Jiangsu team took silver and bronze, respectively.

In the morning's preliminary round, Qin Haiyang swam a time of 58.61 seconds. Both of his swims were within less than one second of his own Asian record of 57.69 seconds. Reflecting on his performance, Qin Haiyang expressed that he had originally hoped to achieve an even faster time in the final and push closer to the 58-second mark. "Right now, many aspects still need further refinement," he noted. "I haven’t fully recovered from my previous injury yet, and there’s still plenty of work ahead. But I’m confident that I’ll deliver strong results this cycle."

Following his gold medal win in the men’s 1500m freestyle on the 18th, Shandong team’s young athlete Zhang Zhanshuo once again claimed victory in the men’s 200m butterfly, finishing with a time of 1:56.60 and setting a new personal best in the event. After the race, Zhang expressed satisfaction with his performance, adding that he hopes to take advantage of his youth by exploring various events and striving wholeheartedly for top results.

Shandong team veteran Ji Xinjie won the men's 200m freestyle title with a time of 1:46.76, while Guangdong athlete Lin Tao claimed the gold medal in the men's 50m backstroke.

Women's competition arenaOn the podium, Yu Yiting, the champion of the Hangzhou Asian Games and bronze medalist at the Paris Olympics, clinched the gold medal in the women’s 400m individual medley with a time of 4:36.63, securing her second gold after winning the women’s 50m butterfly earlier. After the race, she reflected on how she felt deeply shaken following her silver-medal finish in her main event—the women’s 200m individual medley—on the first day. Thankfully, her coach helped her quickly regain her focus and mindset. "To become a champion, you first have to learn how to lose before you can truly understand what it means to win. So now, I’m learning to embrace this journey."

In the women's 50-meter freestyle final, Zhejiang team athlete Wu Qingfeng won the gold medal with a time of 24.44 seconds, while Zhang Yufei finished seventh, clocking in at 25.41 seconds.

After the competition, Zhang Yufei said she’s still in the process of recovering her training and hopes to use this Spring Championships to identify her current lowest point. Moving forward, she’ll strive to secure a spot at the World Championships, adding, "My goal is to improve with each competition."

Hubei team athlete Peng Xuwei won the gold medal in the women's 200m backstroke final.

On the 21st, the Spring Championships will crown four gold medalists: in the men's 100m freestyle, the men's 200m individual medley, and the women's 200m butterfly and 1500m freestyle.
